Creative tools and workflows for immersive content creation
Posted 28 Jun 2018Innovate UK’s recent Knowledge Transfer Network report on The Immersive Economy in the UK estimates that Britain has around 1,000 immersive-specialist companies employing around 4,500 people and potentially representing as much as 9% of global market share. UK Creative Industries have a huge amount to contribute to this emerging immersive sector, not least because many of the skills involved are derived from different corners of this thriving, diverse and crucial part of the economy (such as film, TV, games, visual effects, etc).
This report on Creative Tools and Workflows for Immersive Content Creation, conducted by Opposable Group and TechSpark, looks at key questions around content creation: How is content authored? What tools, techniques, skills, people, equipment will they need? What is best practice? What are the impacts of one workflow over another?
The report asks ten of the top UK immersive content makers drawn from across industry sectors to explain how they make their content, where they draw their influences, and any tips or tricks they have learnt. In doing so, the report puts together a snapshot of workflows, and examples of how content is being made right now across the creative industries, and provides original research into where the challenges and opportunities lie.
