IoT for Local Authorities Showcase 2019
Date: 2 December 2019 10:30 - 17:15
Join Digital Catapult on 02 December 2019 to hear about the initial findings from live local authority trials tackling real-world challenge, sharing their experiences, and insights on how to apply LPWAN solutions.
Low-power wide area network (LPWAN) technology offers local authorities a low cost, low maintenance method of connecting thousands of things to the internet. Solutions range from care homes and car parks to shopping centres and construction sites. Local authorities are increasingly becoming aware of the value of gathering data at these sites to improve their services but full exploitation of the benefits have yet to be reached.
Digital Catapult has been investigating LPWAN applications with two local authorities – Herefordshire Council and South Kesteven District Council. Together we have been working with UK innovators and running live trials to address challenges in social care, intelligent lighting, footfall monitoring and air pollution.
Who should attend?
This showcase will share experiences and lessons learned with an invited audience of local authorities, health and social care and environmental organisations.
This event is aimed at local authorities and partner organisations responsible for delivering local authority services. This includes but is not limited to: Directors, Heads of Service, CIOs, Strategic Programme Managers, Smart City and Digital Transformation Managers, economic development and regeneration officers. This will be a valuable opportunity for those in the construction, environment, vulnerable adult care sectors.
Why attend?
- Hear from South Kesteven District Council and Herefordshire Council, which are already trialling LPWAN solutions – how did they gain buy-in and what have they learned so far?
- Meet UK businesses with innovative LPWAN solutions for the local authority sector and beyond.
- Listen to powerful impact stories of startups from last year’s programme
- Learn about other opportunities on the Digital Catapult technology programmes
- Experience demonstrations the latest technology at our Future Networks Lab, one of the first facilities in Europe specifically designed with a focus on IoT, 5G and LPWAN technologies.
