AI for Net Zero Infrastructure: Accelerating the energy transition through artificial intelligence

Date: 2 November 2026 09:30 - 13:30

Register by: Friday 30 October 2026

Overview

The UK’s energy sector faces a significant challenge in delivering the infrastructure required to support a secure, resilient and affordable transition to Net Zero. Integrating increasing volumes of renewable generation, improving system flexibility, optimising network operations and enhancing infrastructure resilience will require new approaches and innovative technologies.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to play a transformative role in enabling this transition, helping organisations improve forecasting, optimise assets, manage complex systems and accelerate decision-making.

Part of the Artificial Intelligence for Decarbonisation’s Virtual Centre of Excellence (ADViCE), this event will explore how innovative AI solutions are being developed by leading digital businesses, deployed and scaled to support decarbonisation across the UK energy landscape.

As a collaboration between Digital Catapult, Energy Systems Catapult, and The Alan Turing Institute, and as part of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Innovation Portfolio, ADViCE will be delivering a series of events that looks at the current state of play for AI deployment within key sectors of the UK economy.

About this event

Delivered by Energy Systems Catapult, this event explores how AI innovation can support the development, operation and optimisation of the UK’s future Net Zero energy infrastructure.

Designed for innovators, researchers, industry leaders, investors and policymakers, the event will showcase digital businesses and practical examples of AI being applied to real energy sector challenges while exploring the partnerships, investment pathways and policy frameworks needed to scale impact across the sector.

Whether you are developing AI technologies, adopting innovative solutions, investing in emerging ventures or shaping the future direction of the sector, this events offers an opportunity to build new partnerships, share insights and identify opportunities to accelerate the adoption and scaling of AI-enabled decarbonisation across the UK energy system.

Why attend?

  • See real-world AI applications delivering impact – Hear directly from digital businesses and energy sector organisations developing and deploying AI solutions to real-world infrastructure challenges and contribute your own solutions to the ADViCE Solutions Hub.
  • Gain insight into what drives successful deployment and scale – Gain practical insight into how AI-enabled energy innovations have been developed, deployed and scaled, and hear perspectives from investors and industry stakeholders on what drives adoption.
  • Connect with decision-makers from across the ecosystem – Connect with innovators, researchers, infrastructure owners, investors and policymakers, with dedicated opportunities for networking and discussion built into the programme.

Who should attend?

This event is designed for professionals across the UK energy, infrastructure and technology ecosystems, including:

  • Innovators and digital businesses developing AI-enabled solutions for forecasting, flexibility, network optimisation, asset management, digital twins, infrastructure planning and related energy applications.
  • Researchers working across AI, energy systems, infrastructure planning, optimisation, power systems and adjacent fields, and interested in translating research into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Industry partners including network operators, energy suppliers, generators, infrastructure owners, local authorities and industrial energy users seeking innovative approaches to support decarbonisation and improve system performance.
  • Investors exploring opportunities within climate-tech, energy-tech and AI-enabled infrastructure solutions.
  • Strategic partners and policymakers interested in accelerating innovation and supporting the transition to Net Zero through technology adoption, investment and policy development.
