Tania Duarte

Co-founder, We and AI

Tania is the Founder of We and AI (weandai.org), a UK non-profit focusing on better AI literacy for social inclusion, in order to facilitate critical thinking and more inclusive decision making around AI. Programmes include betterimagesofai.org – a collaboration with BBC R&D and a global community of academics, activists, institutes and artists. We and AI designs non-skills-based education on AI technologies and advise on inclusive and meaningful communication around AI. Tania is on the Founding Editorial Board for the Springer AI and Ethics Journal, and on the Public Engagement and Ecosystem Strategy Advisory Board of The Alan Turing Institute. Tania is also an advisor to AI testing software company Etiq.ai, and a Lead for TLA Tech for Disability. She is a member of the IEEE P7015 Data and AI Literacy, Skills, and Readiness working group, and was named one of WIAIE’s 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics 2021. Prior to this, Tania spent 30 years in consultancy, commercial and marketing management roles in industries including retail, tourism, media, healthcare and education. In the last decade she worked in tech and startups, and was a CMO at TPX Impact and head of marketing and communications at FutureLearn. Tania is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, has an MBA and a Diploma in Digital Business Leadership.

Christian Miccio

Product Leadership Consultant, All Things Product Ltd

Christian Miccio is an AI and Machine Learning expert who specializes in building cutting edge world class Digital products and Big Data platforms across different vectors – B2C, B2B2C, B2G – with both multinationals and technology startup companies. Christian combines his Computer Science and MBA degrees from EPFL and INSEAD respectively with two decades of technology achievements to help companies assess the state of their Digital platforms and teams, and develop strategic plans and technology roadmaps to achieve lasting change within a short time window. Christian has significant experience in building and launching innovative global Digital products – which are currently used by billions of users on a daily basis. He was a key early member in the Gmail and Google Maps teams, products in use by over 1 Billion and 2 Billion users every month, respectively. More recently, Christian built a data analytics and data science platform for a $12B telecoms company, built and launched an ML-based ad targeting engine reaching $100m run-rate in its first 3 years, helped launch a tablet-based POS system and started a B2B app market from scratch in EMEA. Christian’s early career was in Shazam as employee #2, where he helped invent technology that did not exist in order to achieve a launch on early generations of mobile phones.

Libby Kinsey joined Ocado Technology in 2021 as Head of Data Strategy and Operations. She re-trained in machine learning in 2014 after 12 years in technology venture capital, and has since then focused on how to derive business value from data-driven innovation in a variety of roles: doing hands-on R&D, building communities, and tackling challenges to adoption.

Conrad Wolfram

Strategic Director and European Co-Founder/CEO of the Wolfram group

Conrad Wolfram is Strategic Director and European co-founder/CEO of the Wolfram group, recognised as a global thought leader on AI, computational technology and technical education. At the epicentre of computation for 35 years, the Wolfram group drives data science, modelling, maths and automation through its consulting services and technologies, including Mathematica, Wolfram | Alpha and Wolfram Language. Wolfram was announced as one of the first 10 plug-ins for ChatGPT . Conrad founded computerbasedmath.org in 2010 to fundamentally fix maths education and achieve computational literacy for all. His groundbreaking book ‘The Math(s) Fix – an education blueprint for the AI age’, for the first time lays out a roadmap to this fundamental reform.

Benedict Dellot

Technology Policy Principal, Ofcom

Benedict is a Technology Policy Principal at Ofcom, where he leads a number of Ofcom’s AI-related projects and policy areas. This includes leading Ofcom’s preparations for the UK government’s new AI regulation framework, as well as the regulator’s approach to regulating the use of generative AI in the online safety regime. Benedict also oversees much of Ofcom’s research into the use of recommender systems by online services. Prior to joining Ofcom, Benedict was Head of AI Monitoring at the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, and previously worked at the Royal Society of Arts think-tank.
