The ITP is a leading membership body for the UK’s telecoms sector, dedicated to championing and transforming the sector and its workforce. It is teaming up Ofcom, the regulator for the communications sector in the UK for this seminar which will explore technical work in telecoms.

This seminar will focus on Ofcom’s work, including its partnership with Digital Catapult on the SONIC Labs programme. By joining this session, you will get to hear more from Digital Catapult’s Technical Lead for the SONIC Labs programme, Charles Turyagayenda, who will be sharing more about the programme and the latest innovations around testing the interoperability of open, disaggregated and software-centric network solutions.

Charles Turyagayenda

Technical Lead for the SONIC Labs programme

Charles holds a PhD in Telecommunications from the University of Sheffield and has over 15 years’ experience in the wireless networks industry and academia. In his current role as Technical Lead for the SONIC Labs programme, he is contributing to the UK Telecom diversification strategy. Throughout his career, he has been active in the research, development and standardisation of cutting-edge communication network technologies particularly: Open RAN, Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV). He is an inventor, developer and scientific writer who has invented multiple patents and authored several peer-reviewed publications.
