Reality Zero One

Reality Zero One’s mission is to design and create a world class end-to-end reality capture and digital delivery platform. A big problem facing VR/AR/MR creators and the broader 3D industry is the cost and time associated with modelling and creating content from scratch. The company is building tools that make getting real things into VR/AR/MR & 3D a joyful experience and crafting a pipeline that reduces the time and cost this process usually requires.

The Challenge

Reality Zero One knew that it had a great solution to take to market, but there were a few stumbling blocks standing in its way. The company needed to bolster staff numbers and confidently approach potential investors, propelling the company forward to greater success.

The Solution

Recognising the potential of the platform and its positive impact on the immersive industry, particularly the reality capture segment, Digital Catapult accepted Reality Zero One’s application to become a cohort on its ‘Augmentor Programme’.

As part of their involvement in the programme, the company’s directors received vital insight into how to address key business challenges and adjust their go-to-market strategy. Further promotion arrived when their world class platform was featured as part of Digital Catapult’s Augmentor Showcase.

The Results

Due to their involvement in the Digital Catapult Augmentor Programme and surpassing around 100 other applicants, many new doors opened. This included its acceptance onto ‘The Green Light Programme’ and subsequent invitation to exhibit its world class end-to-end reality capture and digital delivery platform at the Augmentor Showcase in London.

The latter proved to be crucial, as their largest investor, who lead their recent investment funding round, attended the demo day and was subsequently convinced that this was a worthy product. Augmentor also provided helpful workshops which shifted the owners away from just being solely product focused, to looking at other parts of the business that were being neglected. This included fundraising and identifying exactly what was expected of the business at that particular stage of its development.

Besides workshops, the acceptance of Reality Zero One onto the Augmentor programme also meant that the company was granted access to Digital Catapult’s facilities including desk space and the Immersive Lab which allowed the founders to test and demo their product to potential customers and other potential investors.

Since the Augmentor Programme Reality Zero One:

  • Was invited to demo its platform at Digital Catapult’s Augmentor Showcase in London.
  • Closed a £285k round of seed funding.
  • Has attracted strong levels of early market interest including having worked on an immersive project for Virgin Atlantic and Microsoft in partnership with Radio Design.
  • Secured a new co-founder.

Augmentor is a 10-week programme delivering technical and business mentorship, access to state-of-the-art immersive facilities and regular check-ins with investors. Through Augmentor, Digital Catapult is able to discover businesses with the most commercially viable solutions and provide them with the skills to confidently approach investors. The programme concludes with an investor showcase, which stimulates UK private investment into companies developing innovative and commercially-focused applications of augmented and virtual reality.
