Meet us at the 5G Summit in Taipei

Event overview

On 3 November 2023, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), in collaboration with global partners, is hosting the 5G Summit in Taipei.

At the summit, Digital Catapult will join representatives from Telecom Infra Project (TIP), i14y Lab hosted by Deutsche Telekom, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) from U.S. Department of Commerce, North Carolina’s Aerial Experimentation and Research Platform for Advanced Wireless (AERPAW), alongside several leading Open RAN innovators from Taiwan (such as Taiwan Mobile, Pegatron, Lions Technology, WNC, HTC, G REIGNS, Quanta Computer, QCT, Compal Electronics, Tailyn Technologies, Lite-On and more).

These experts will discuss first-hand their respective progress and insights toward Open RAN testing & validation, deployment, and ways to leverage policy resources to expedite global market entry.

This summit brings together key industry leaders and Open RAN innovators to share their valuable takes on the issues at hand, and to contribute to the coevolution of our global telecom ecosystem.

Paul Ceely

Director of Technology Strategy

Paul Ceely has over 20 years’ experience in technology and network strategy, covering strategy and solutions for mobile, internet, security, network management and technology evolution in general.

Charles Turyagyenda

Lead 5G Technologist

Charles holds a PhD in Telecommunications from the University of Sheffield, UK. He has over 10 years’ experience in the wireless networks industry and academia. He is currently contributing to the UK Telecom diversification strategy as the technical lead for the SONIC Labs programme. Throughout his career, he has been active in the research, development and standardization of cutting-edge communication network technologies particularly: Open RAN, Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). He is an inventor, developer and scientific writer who has invented multiple patents and authored several peer-reviewed publications.

Paul Sludden

Project Director, SONIC Labs

Paul is the Project Director of SONIC Labs at Digital Catapult. He is responsible for the project strategy delivery supporting the strategic goals of Digital Catapult and its mission of enabling greater interoperability in digital network infrastructure. Prior to Digital Catapult, Paul has spent over 30 years developing Radio Access Technology solutions with mobile network operators, consultancies and vendors in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and Australia gaining extensive experience in network strategy, technology system introduction, programme delivery, design and performance.
