Event overview

Bristol Technology Festival, the UK’s largest regional tech festival returns for its sixth year, from 7 to 11 October 2024 to bring people and technology together to explore the thriving digital scene in Bristol.

The many events taking place across the five days as part of the festival will showcase some of the region’s most innovative technology initiatives, inspire the business community and empower people; bringing together various local technology communities and help organisations learn how to benefit from locally available skills, services, and products.

There are plenty of opportunities across the five days to get involved in the festival, whether that’s hosting or attending an event, or supporting through sponsorship, you can find more information as well as the full programme of the festival HERE.

Hear from us

As part of the Festival core events, you will be able to hear from two Digital Catapult’s experts.

 

On Day 3, Wednesday 9 October, Tony Stimson, Strategic Partnership and Centre Lead, will take part in th “Catapults Explained” workshop from 13:30 to 14:30 as part of the Innovate Local Bristol event hosted by Innovate UK at the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel.
This workshop will be the opportunity to learn how to access expertise, start-of-the-art facilities and an array of support for SME’s from six of our Catapults: Digital Catapult, National Composites Centre, Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, Satellite Applications Catapult and the the UK Agritech Centre.

The following day, Nicola Price, Partnerships Manager at Digital Catapult will participate in a panel discussion around “Setting the future vision of Creative Technology in the South West”  from 12:45 to 14:00 on Thursday 10 October, at Motion (74-78 Avon Street Bristol BS2 0PX).

Nicola will be joined in this panel by representatives from The Bristol Business Bugle, Bristol Creative Industries and Rebellious Co to dive into the future of creative technology in the region. Building on the insights from the morning workshop, these industry experts will discuss the untapped potential of the creative sector and work together to define a shared vision for the future.

Nicola Price

Partnerships Manager

Based in the West of England, Nicola Price is a Partnerships Manager at Digital Catapult where she plays a pivotal role in supporting the open funding calls led by MyWorld that allow businesses to address their own challenges, specific industry challenges, and to take creative risks within a carefully curated community, providing individuals and companies with space, money and time to work on their most exciting ideas. Before joining Digital Catapult, Nicola was a bid writer at UWE and Bath Spa University where she supported academics in securing research funding, particularly in the createch sector. She was also part of the Creative Scale Up Programme at WECA assisting creative businesses in their growth and development. Nicola’s expertise lies in driving forward impactful partnerships and identifying funding opportunities to support innovation growth.

Tony Stimson

Strategic Partnerships Lead – Centre Lead

Based in the region, Tony Stimson is the Centre Lead for Digital Catapult’s new hub in the West of England with the responsibility of providing regionally based SME’s access to our programmes, lab facilities and expertise to accelerate their adoption of deep tech. Tony has been with Digital Catapult for just over two years and during that time has worked on projects to deliver impact in the creative, advanced manufacturing, energy, transport and logistics sectors. He has also worked on projects looking at future skills requirements and the spillover opportunities for createch into other industry verticals. Before joining Digital Catapult, Tony spent 15 years working for multinational IT companies like IBM and Lenovo, and also spent a number of years at pre-IPO technology start ups. Tony’s expertise is driving impactful partnerships and solving complex challenges for organisations.
