5G RAN Transport Connectivity

Join us 19 November 2018 as we explore the real world transport network requirements that will make 5G a reality.

The afternoon will feature discussions, debates and a Q&A exploring the terms used in transport connectivity, referencing industry standards and work of industry fora such as NGMN and Small Cells Forum, and discussing the real world transport network requirements that will be necessary to make 5G a reality.

Terms such as fronthaul, midhaul and backhaul are commonly interchanged to describe the connectivity between a 4G or 5G base station (eNB/gNB) and mobile core network; base station architectures are often described as D-RAN, C-RAN or vRAN; these terms mean different things to different people and are often used incorrectly or at least interpreted differently which is leading to lots of confusion within our industry. Add to this the need to understand transport requirements of CPRI, eCPRI, F1, E1, S1, N2 and N3 interfaces and the 5G RAN transport connectivity situation becomes even more complex!
