Data loss insurance startup, Data2Vault, wanted to launch a new product to market that would bring it into the cyber security market. By participating in Cyber 101 it has grown its network, generated leads and is using its cyber capabilities as a differentiator.

Data2Vault wanted to build its network and generate leads

Data2Vault wanted to take advantage of growing market opportunities in cyber security by launching a new data loss insurance product. The product would scan data backups for ransomware and prevent attack loops, which are incidents where the same virus attacks backups repeatedly. As a new entrant into the cyber security sector, Data2Vault needed to build a network to build product awareness and generate leads within an emerging and fast-moving sector.

Cyber 101 provides opportunities to work with industry peers

Data2Vault has been part of in the Cyber 101 programme for 18 months, participating in activities such as a peer learning group that provided an opportunity to meet other cyber business owners and discuss common challenges.

Cyber 101 is part of DCMS funded activity to grow the UK’s cyber security industry and the capability of cyber security startups and scaleups. This programme is linked to the Develop strand of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy, a series of activities that will be supported by £1.9bn in public investment over the next five years. It is delivered in partnership with Digital Catapult, The Accelerator Network, CSIT and Inogesis.

Cyber 101 has opened up opportunities and generated leads

Participating in the peer learning group activities has given Data2Vault the opportunity to work through cyber challenges with others in the industry. This opportunity has led directly to working relationships that are ongoing.

Attending a recent Cyber 101 demo day has also resulted in leads for potential new business with good prospects, including an introduction to a top five global insurer. Data2Vault’s cyber capabilities are becoming a differentiator for the business.
