Immersive Audiences: How to design and evaluate immersive user journeys – Belfast

Date: 2 March 2020 13:00 - 2 March 2020 17:00

Immersive technologies, virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have seen rapid evolution over the past few years, at the same time however there has been little in the way of establishing clear methodologies, best practices or guidance for the testing and development of immersive content and experiences.

On behalf of UKRI and the Audience of the Future Demonstrator programme, Digital Catapult and i2 media research have been studying immersive audiences and evaluating immersive productions. Applying learnings from this research, the half-day workshop will explore how to design and evaluate immersive user journeys with cost efficient means and practical tools that can be applied directly to business.

The workshop will consist of 90-minute plenary sessions. Digital Catapult will introduce the Immersive Audience Journey toolkit and i2 media research will lead participants through the self-service online Immersive User Experience Evaluation toolkit.

Attendees will also gain the opportunity to be involved in 1-2-1, moderated sessions or small group sessions discussing how to apply these toolkits and kickstart audience insights practices into the design of immersive experiences.

Why attend?

By designing and evaluating immersive experiences throughout the design process, user-centric and focused experiences can be developed providing a better measure of success and engagement. Attendees will gain:

  • audience insights from Digital Catapult’s research
  • introduction to the immersive audience journey approach to design customer journeys before, during, and after production
  • introduction to i2 media research’s Immersive User Experience Evaluation online toolkit and how to use it

Who should attend?

Companies, studios, agencies, institutions working on immersive productions (AR/VR/MR) in arts, culture, and entertainment.
