CreativeXR exclusive preview night: unlocking the creative potential of VR content

Date: 4 February 2019 17:30 - 4 February 2019 21:00

Digital Catapult and Arts Council England celebrate the completion of five immersive experiences from the CreativeXR programme, designed to explore the potential of VR and AR for the arts and culture sector.

Since the beginning of the CreativeXR programme in 2017, Arts Council England and Digital Catapult have supported 20 creative companies pushing the boundaries in the development of immersive content. We’re delighted to present five teams taking one step further as they demonstrate what the possibilities are when development funding is unlocked.

This event will demonstrate for the first time these projects:

  • Fatherland: a pioneering theatrical experience exploring disembodiment in the modern world
  • Immersive Histories: an immersive opportunity allowing you to physically step into history during the famous Dambusters mission
  • Common Ground: a multi-layered immersive documentary about the history and legacy of one of the most controversial housing estates in Britain
  • Traitor: a two-player interactive high stakes thriller, combining VR with live action
  • When Something Happens: an epic journey through the history of the cosmos

This will be the first time the five selected CreativeXR projects will be previewed to a live audience. CreativeXR demonstrates the potential for creative industries in the UK to use VR and AR technologies in exciting, innovative ways.
