Distributed Systems Technologist

The Distributed Systems Technologist will be responsible for leading and delivering on a range of exploratory projects within Digital Catapult’s Distributed Systems portfolio. These cover various non-financial applications of Distributed Ledger / blockchain, self-sovereign identity, and other decentralised/distributed technologies. Projects are usually grant-funded with a number of UK and/or EU partners, but can be commercially-funded. The role is highly varied and you will have the opportunity to educate and inspire senior stakeholders in partner organisations, and to work in a team to think through appropriate architectures, and develop potential experimental solutions. Closing date for applications: 6th December. Target start date: January 2021.

what you’ll do
  • Communicate the benefits of distribution and explore the parameters of appropriate deployment of these solutions with high profile organisations
  • Engage with distributed ledgers/blockchain, file systems, P2P messaging, self-sovereign identity on a daily basis
  • Technically steer live projects (grant funded or commercially funded)
  • Undertake experimental software development either individually or as part of a team
  • Work on creating project deliverables including written reports, internal and external presentations
  • Continually improve personal knowledge and skills in the field of distributed systems, software development, and cryptography
