The Programme Manager develops and delivers the programme management strategy for Digital Catapult's technology programmes (Artificial Intelligence, Future Networks, Immersive and Future Focus) and oversees project & product delivery. The projects within these programmes will be for commercial partners or as part of consortia funded as collaborative R&D activities through grants or internally funded projects. Our philosophy is to manage the development, planning, initiation and delivery of these programmes and demonstrate impact and clear economic outcomes for the UK. They will closely involved in shaping business opportunities. They will also provide leadership to the team of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

what you’ll do
  • Experience in successfully managing end-to-end projects and programmes across multiple business stakeholders, objectives and technology stacks taking complete ownership and accountability for the programme
  • Experience in managing Agile and waterfall projects and using tools such as Jira, SmartSheets and MS Project
  • Experience in delivering cross-functional projects in a matrix organisation structure
  • Knowledge and experience of the development of functional products from PoC to implemented system, in both commercial and R&D environment
  • Ability to pick up subject matter expertise in a given technology area and map programme milestones and deliverables to the larger organisation strategy
  • Experience in building long term relationships with senior stakeholders and managing budgets upto £3M to £5M for complex projects
  • Experience in leading by example and being approachable for any direction or coaching needed by the team
what we’re looking for
  • Along with the Technology and Business Leads develop a coherent programme strategy that includes realistic and practical goals as well as agree and deliver on milestones, targets, outcomes, impact and success stories for the programme
  • Evaluate the progress of the programme on a regular basis and oversee the management (or directly manage as needed), plan, initiate, resource and deliver projects within the core technology programme, to ensure early detection of risks/issues and achievement of set targets, including for earned revenue
  • Build proposals for future projects as well as modelling revenue and resource forecast of commercial and CR&D work in the sales pipeline across programmes
  • Coordinate and facilitate the programme leadership team and report on the programme’s progress and forecast to senior stakeholders (including the Digital Catapult board on a monthly basis and Innovate UK on a quarterly basis)
  • Work with the PMO to define the controls, that is the processes, procedures, reporting, etc. to manage the projects to time, cost and quality, monitoring and reporting on progress and managing risks, issues and dependencies
  • Provide coaching and guidance for successful delivery across the portfolio in line with Digital Catapult’s strategy and vision and line manage the assigned project managers / senior project managers
