Policy, Research & Engagement Coordinator (12m FTC)

Your role will be to engage with start-ups and scale-ups in the emerging technology space, helping to map the ecosystem and prepare independent research reports that can help to shape internal strategic interventions for the Digital Catapult and external facing thought leadership.

what you’ll do
  • Assist in the development of high quality analysis and ecosystem reports of startups and scaleups, academics / researchers, influencers, organisations, events, investors, government and organisations working in the Digital Catapult emerging technology and industry layers
  • Working with the Head of Policy Delivery to collate and produce thought leadership pieces for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with internal teams to capture and analyse learnings and intelligence from projects, and scope other interventions that will generate impact for startups and scaleups in our technology areas
  • Presentation of Digital Catapult to external audiences – representing the organization and helping to map / articulate impact to wider audiences
  • Government and strategic partnership engagement – building a trusted partner relationship with key Digital Catapult government stakeholders and other innovation organisations across the UK (techUK, Tech Nation etc.)
what we’re looking for
  • University graduate or post-graduate degree or equivalent with work experience in technology policy, research or relevant start up / SME research and ecosystem mapping experience
  • Excellent written and spoken analytical skills (highly proficient in English), including the ability to translate complex material into clear and concise internal and external documents. Ideally with strong Microsoft word & Powerpoint design skills
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial attitude with the ability to work flexibly and use own initiative when necessary
  • Background understanding / knowledge of current emerging technology trends, and the key government, public and private sector institutions that shape emerging technology policy in our technology areas (e.g. 5G, IoT, AI/ML, VR/AR, Blockchain, Cyber Security etc.)
  • Understanding of UK government, in particular around the key national policies that will affect the emerging technology startup and scaleup world would be an advantage.
